Bavette with razor shell clams

Bavette con i cannolicchi. I came across these today in the fish market. I was at a loss what to do with them and in the end cooked them using the same recipe as vermicelli con le vongole. Very nice they were too :-)

  1. I don’t know where in Puglia you are, but I had a secondo at Settimo Cielo at Lecce that I can’t find a recipe for. It was called involtini strappalachrime, but it didn’t make me cry, just leap with joy. Do you know it?

  2. I’m sorry, I’ve never hear of that one. What was in it exactly? Was it very spicy? (I’m just guessing because of the name)A quick search on the internet came up with 2 hits. The first was the menu from Settimo Cielo and the second was your blog :-)

I think its probably their own invention. Let me know if you find the recipe.

PS I’m based in Bari, but if I do happen to visit Lecce I might make it to seventh heaven :-)

  3. I just found your site and so happy I did. My grandparents were from Bari. I’ll be popping in to see what’s cooking :)

  4. Thanks Maryann, If your grandparents were from Bari, you are probably familiar with a few of the dishes already :-) Let me know if you try any of the recipes.

    Ciao
